Bountiful Bees:

The apiculture program of the backyard bounty collective aims to encourage and support new urban beekeepers in their first year of beekeeping.

The program will provide new beekeepers with bees, a hive, beekeeping instruction and support through-out the summer and fall. The emphasis will be on bee nutrition and health using low-stress organic hive management techniques.

Many people have considered beekeeping in the past; however, ordering equipment and bees, building the hive and installing the bees in their new home is an intimidating proposition for a beginner. This is where I come in. I will work with my team to get you up and running in the spring. Then over the course of the summer and fall you will have the opportunity to learn the basic skills involved in maintaining your colony.

Instruction will be delivered in a group setting, over the course of the summer we will have the opportunity to work on each participant’s hive.

One on one support will also be available to deal with individual challenges.
