The Backyard Bounty Collective is made up of four young, urban “farmpreneurs” who, with the support of the Environmental Youth Alliance and Farm Folk/City Folk, and funding from a Vancity EnviroVisa grant, are working to bring backyard food production in Vancouver to a vibrant new level. We represent four distinct areas of urban backyard food production: honeybees, mushrooms, laying hens and aquaponics. We are committed to widespread education and empowerment of youth, school-aged kids and community members. Through public workshops, client relationships, online blogging and resources, and educational events the collective will play an important role in creating sustainable, local and ethical food sources for people in urban environments in Metro Vancouver.
